Peeling

Fighting the first signs of aging.

The skin is a dynamic organ that is constantly being renewed.
Old cells die on the skin surface and are replaced by younger ones from the basal layer.
Several factors participate in the aging process. Besides the patient’s age, sun exposure and smoking also play a significant part in this process.
Skin peel treatment involves applying a product on the skin that will remove the superficial layer of the epidermis and stimulate the basal layer, enhancing skin radiance and elasticity.
The exfoliation depth will depend on the desired effect.
Three kinds of treatment are possible: superficial, medium and deep skin peels.
At your first consultation, our plastic doctors and surgeons will assess your skin and recommend the best skin peel for you.

Soft or superficial skin peel using glycolic acid
Glycolic acid is a fruit acid. These acids are vital in the fight against skin aging.
Glycolic acid eliminates dead cells of the epidermis and reduces its thickness, helping the skin to appear healthier, plumper and smoother.

Medium skin peel using TCA (trichloroacetic acid)
Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) is a much stronger acid which works deep within the upper dermis.
It stimulates quick cellular renewal of the epidermis and helps fighting against dark spots and fine lines. It also offers a way to treat acne.
Three to four days after the treatment, the skin will get light brown and start peeling.
The patient will have to use a protective and moisturising cream and avoid sun exposure.

Deep peel using phenol
Such deep skin peel is more appropriate to treat deep wrinkles and scars and helps the skin to appear tighter.
The side effects are more unpleasant (redness, crusting skin) and will require downtime for a while, but the rejuvenating effect is dramatic!
