Wrinkles filling
Wrinkles filling
Different products are used to fill wrinkles: absorbable filling products such as hyaluronic acid (Juvederm ®, Restylane ®, Varioderm ®, etc.) or collagen, and permanent products like purified silicon oil, Artecoll, Dermalive, etc. We do not recommend permanent fillers because they are difficult to treat in case of side effects (inflammation, granulomas, etc.).
Nowadays, plastic doctors often recommend absorbable products, which sometimes last for a very long time.
Lipofilling is another possibility to add volume or fill wrinkles. This procedure consists in extracting fat from the abdomen or thighs by liposuction. Once decanted or centrifuged, the fat is then injected where needed (wrinkles, hollows, lips, etc.)
Hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid is naturally occurring in the body. By retaining water, it keeps the skin well moisturised. Its level nevertheless decreases with age, causing the appearance of wrinkles.
Dermal fillers containing hyaluronic acid efficiently fight signs of aging such as wrinkles and rehydrate skin tissue.
• Procedure
This quick and simple intervention usually does not take more than 15 to 20 minutes.
The plastic doctor injects hyaluronic acid with a very fine needle beneath the skin surface (superficially to treat fine lines and a little deeper to treat wrinkles and furrows).
The injection is smooth and hardly painful (sometimes, depending on the zone to be treated, the injection may be performed under local anaesthetic or after the application of anaesthetic cream. Some hyaluronic acids already contain local anaesthetic agents).
• Results
The results are immediately visible and will last according to the type of hyaluronic acid used, the age of the patient, the amount injected, the treated zone, the quality of the skin, the lifestyle of the patient, etc. They will usually last 6 months to one year or more.
