“It’s as plain as the nose on your face” has become a popular maxim. The nose plays indeed a key role in the overall look of your face and even a small deformity can lead to serious psychological or relationship problems.
Rhinoplasty is a general term that can refer to the reduction of the nasal bridge or to the altering of the size or shape of the nose tip or of the nostrils. The correction of a deviated nasal septum is also possible.
Rhinoplasty can be performed as soon as bone and cartilage growth is complete (age of 18) and remains possible for elderly people, as the thickness of the cartilage and the elasticity of the nose skin decrease with the aging process.
According to the type of operation, general or local anesthesia will be required.
The operation takes 1 to 3 hours to complete.
• Postoperative care
A small splint will be necessary during one week. When this splint is removed, the new shape of the nose will already be visible. You will nevertheless have to wait for a year before seeing the final results.
